"Our Morning Prayer"

Sing for joy to the LORD, all the earth; praise him with songs and shouts of joy! - Psalm 98:4


Our Morning Prayer is taken directly from the new grade one religion resource, Growing In Faith, Growing In Christ. The prayer was written by past H.W.C.D.S.B.'s Religion and Family Consultant Mrs. Leanne Thompson. Mrs. Thompson was a major contributor to the new resource, and is still actively involved with many of the Board's spiritual initiatives.The new program from Pearson Canada consists of digital and print components to support 21st Century learners in their engagement with, and exploration of Religious Education concepts and content. The program is based on the Ontario Catholic Elementary Curriculum Policy document for Religious Education, Grades 1 – 8.

Thank-you to Mr. Camilleri for teaching the grade 1/2 class this prayer and creating the music for it. Also, thanks to the help of educational assistants Mrs. Smerilli and Mrs. Mancuso, the students also use American Sign Language to communicate it as well.

Many of the students in this video were, or still are, a part of the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board's Speech and Language Program, facilitated by Special Education Resource Teacher Mrs. Mahler and Speech and Language Pathologist Mrs.Ceci.

With the support of Our Lady Of Lourdes school principal Mrs. Konyt, a short video of the students performing the prayer was graciously filmed by the board.
