To ensure that our schools remain safe places in which to learn and work, the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board has partnered with LifeLabs, Canada’s largest medical laboratory, to provide free COVID-19 testing for students and staff from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Elementary School this weekend at a hub clinic at St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School.
COVID-19 testing is voluntary and only for asymptomatic students and staff (those who are not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms).
If you are interested in participating, testing will be available on the following date:
• Saturday, May 1, 2021
• 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School
– 200 Acadia Drive, Hamilton, ON L8W 1B8
Asymptomatic testing is an important layer of protection that helps to track and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Increased testing may also help to reduce stress and anxiety related to the virus by identifying cases early and avoiding transmission.Walk-in registration
Participants are invited to walk-in to the location during the allocated testing times. Children under the age of 18 will need to bring a signed and completed parent consent form (a form is attached to this letter). What can I expect to happen at the test site?
Our Goal = less discomfort
The test process is very simple and safe, and the collection site will be staffed by professionals who will be following a multitude of safety parameters. LifeLabs uses a swab similar to a Q-tip that is inserted into the front part of the nostril and rotated for 15 seconds (per nostril). Learn more about this testing method
If an OHIP number has been provided at the time of check-in/registration, results will be uploaded to covid-19results.ehealthontario.ca
. Any positive results will get a call from the LifeLabs clinical team and Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS).
As new COVID-19 variants emerge in our community, testing is crucial to continue the downward trend of case counts.
