United Way Employee Campaign (Oct 26—Nov 24, 2017)

On October 26, the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board will kick off its 2017 Employee Giving Campaign in support of the United Way.

This year’s United Way employee campaign goal will attempt to “Beat our Best.” That means surpassing past milestones, including total dollars raised, number of employee donors, dollars raised through employee gifts and site-based special events, employee participation, and size of the average gift.

Here’s our “Best to Beat” to date:

Total: $84,577.88 (2015)
Employee gift: $39,061.22 (2015)
Special events: $45,516.66 (2015)
# of Leaders (gifts over $1,000): 3 (2015)
# of employee donors: 385 (2012)
% of employee participation: 12% (2013)
% of site participation: 100% (2016)
Average gift: $112.24 (2014)

Donations to the United Way support a variety of programs and services in Hamilton and Halton, including nutrition programs and after-hours activities at many of our Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic schools.

This year’s United Way theme, “Do you know what your donation looks like?” challenges employees to consider the impact of their donation.

What does your donation look like?

For $3 a pay, it could look like the struggling single mom in your neighbourhood whose self-esteem was bolstered because of health and wellness activities funded through the United Way.

Or it could look like an elementary class – your elementary class – which, thanks to your donation of $20 a pay, is able to enjoy a healthy snack every week.

Or it could look like a youth in crisis – maybe a secondary student you know – who, because of your gift of $48 per pay, is receiving 5 months’ worth of check-in calls to ensure he or she is keeping well.

Supporting the United Way is “an absolute no-brainer,” says Director of Education David Hansen, noting that one in three individuals in the Hamilton community is impacted each day by the United Way.

“As a board, the United Way speaks to what we do, and that’s improving opportunities for children and youth.”

This year’s campaign will go a long way to help move people from poverty to possibility, build healthy, strong communities, and enable kids to be all that they can be.

Your donation makes everything possible.

As a special thank you for your gift, donors will be entered into a draw for one of several prizes:
• $500 VISA gift card;
• Bissell Bark Bath (retail value $200);
• Golf Package from Southbrook Golf and Country Club;
• Teeth Whitening Service from Start Fresh Dental;
• Gourmet Treat Basket from Delizcious Treats;
• SCJohnson gift basket;
• Oil Wellness Package from Young Living.

Employees who opt to donate through payroll deduction will be entered into an exclusive draw for an iPad.

Please give generously.

The United Way employee campaign runs from October 26 to November 24.
